T-Systems and Intel: Cooperation for more  economic effectiveness and energy  efficiency

It is  estimated  that the world¹s data centers consume more than 120 billion kWh per year.  This amounts to the output of about 44 nuclear power plants and costs of  around 5.48 billion  euros.

Power consumption associated with IT  will  continue to rise in the future. Quite apart from the economic issues,   this poses challenges in terms of security, availability and the   environment. The Data Center 2020 project is based on the premise  that data  centers could halve the amount of energy currently used  for air conditioning  and decrease their carbon emissions by 80  percent.

Welcome to the DataCenter 2020 by Intel and T-Systems

by , published: August 4th, 2009

datacenter2020_teaser_wolkenFrom today, this website follows the research of Intel and T-Systems in the new test data center, the DataCenter 2020 set up in Munich.

This test data center is a “live research” making innovations ready for the market more quickly. The two global players with a combined know-how that has been growing over centuries make all this possible.

The results of our common research will be available to everybody who is interested in them. In that way, our test data center will be – at the same time – the starting position for more and more innovations to come.
