T-Systems and Intel: Cooperation for more economic effectiveness and energy efficiency
It is estimated that the world¹s data centers consume more than 120 billion kWh per year. This amounts to the output of about 44 nuclear power plants and costs of around 5.48 billion euros.
Power consumption associated with IT will continue to rise in the future. Quite apart from the economic issues, this poses challenges in terms of security, availability and the environment. The Data Center 2020 project is based on the premise that data centers could halve the amount of energy currently used for air conditioning and decrease their carbon emissions by 80 percent.
